ALUMNI UPDATE: A LETTER FROM GAVIN MAGUIRE ('02)

 

Hagerstown, MD (Mar '07) -- "March 21st, 2007 marks the one year anniversary of my life-changing traumatic brain injury. This year has been the most challenging of my admittedly short life but, given the severity of my injury, I have been blessed with an amazing recovery. I am currently working towards my Masters degree and am on track to commission into the Army as a Military Police Officer this May.

On this, the first, anniversary, I would like to reiterate my appreciation for what you have done for me over the past year. Because of this experience, I have come to realize the power of prayer and the value of the personal support that both my parents and I received from the community. I credit the help and encouragement you have given me, at the various stages of my recovery, as the biggest reason I am where I am now.

             I just hope that I can take what I have learned through this ordeal to better serve my future soldiers and to better support my friends and family when they are faced with similarly great challenges, just as my friends and family have collectively supported me during this challenge.
