Mens Varsity Soccer Wrap up

Thursday, November 02, 2006
The 2006 SSFS Men's Varsity Soccer Team completed a remarkable 15-1-1 overall regular season and playoff campaign, registering 55 goals in favor versus 10 against. Laying claim to the program’s fourth PVAC League Championship, the Beests went on to complete the elusive conference double by three-peating as back-to-back-to-back PVAC Tournament Champions, following a dramatic penalty kick shootout (3-2) over Covenant Life School on the RFK Stadium Auxiliary Field in Washington, DC, furthering a tradition of ten consecutive winning seasons and counting.

Furthermore, the Beests proudly defended the Preuss Field, compiling a perfect regular & playoff season record of 10-0-0, along the way to claiming their seventh and eighth PVAC Championships in eight years. In addition, the Beests broke and/or tied six program records (please refer to Hall of Fame):

Consecutive Home Wins (35: since 10/04/03)
Best Home Record (11-0-0)
Best Preuss Field Record (10-0-0)
Most Career Goals (Kyle Cassidy: 84)
Most Career Assists (Ethan Price-Chu: 51 tied with Owen Haddow '06)
Most Career Shutouts (Sam Schneider: 26 tied with Tom Sadler '00)

Among the five graduating Gentlemen-Warriors, the Beests induct two four-year varsity members to the prestigious Ring-of-Honor: Captain Kyle Cassidy (SSFS Career Goals Record Holder: 84) and Assistant Captain Ethan Price-Chu (SSFS Career Assists Record Holder: 51).

Not surprisingly, and for the fourth consecutive season, the Beests distinguished themselves by earning the most PVAC All-Star selections to conclude their fall championship campaign. Led by senior Captain Kyle Cassidy (24 Goals, 2 Assists) and Assistant Captain Ethan Price-Chu (6 Goals, 19 Assists) -- two of the three highest first round vote getters -- Assistant Captain and junior sweeper Ashton Imlay and sophomore goalkeeper Sam Schneider (PVAC Tournament MVP) all earned coveted First Team All-PVAC honors.

In addition, junior midfielder Aaron Lewis (5 Goals, 3 Assists) is joined by senior midfielder Christopher Davis (8 Goals, 4 Assists) on the Second Team All-PVAC. Junior midfielder Sam Records (5 Goals, 6 Assists) received the designated honor of a Coach’s selection, bringing the total number of All-Star Beests to seven. Coach Polón was once again bestowed the honor of serving as one of this year's All-Star coaches. In conclusion, this season could not have been possible were it not for the support of our loyal and supportive fans!
