Monday, November 14, 2005
This season's SSFS Men's Varsity Soccer Team completed an astonishing 18-0-0 overall regular season and playoff campaign, registering a staggering 91 goals in favor versus 5 against. Laying claim to the program’s third PVAC League Championship, the Beests went on to complete the elusive conference double, and their dream season, by repeating as back-to-back PVAC Tournament Champions following a 2-0 victory over St. Anselm’s Abbey School in the Stadium Field of the Maryland SoccerPlex, furthering a tradition of nine consecutive winning seasons and counting. Among program firsts included victories over highly respected out-of-conference opponents Georgetown Day, The Heights, and Blake High School. Furthermore, the Beests proudly defended the Preuss Field, compiling a perfect 9-0-0 regular & playoff season home record.

Along the way to claiming their fifth and sixth PVAC Championships in seven years*, the Beests also won The Francisco Hope Classic for the program's third time. In addition, the Beests broke and/or tied fifteen program records and one school-wide record** (please refer to Hall of Fame):

Among the five graduating Gentlemen-Warriors, the Beests induct four four-year varsity members to the prestigious Ring-of-Honor: Captain, Steven Matthews, Assistant Captain, Chad Henry (Francisco Hope Tournament MVP), Owen Haddow, and Zack Zarker (PVAC Tournament MVP). Not surprisingly, and for the third consecutive season, the Beests, led by their Fantastic Four, distinguished themselves for most PVAC All-Star selections to conclude their fall championship and undefeated campaign (18-0-0). Led by senior Assistant Captain Chad Henry (37 Goals, 12 Assists) -- one of only two first round unanimous choices -- fellow seniors, Captain Steven Matthews (11 Goals, 17 Assists), Owen Haddow (5 Goals, 26 Assists) and Zack Zarker (PVAC Tournament MVP) all earned coveted First Team All-PVAC honors. In addition, junior midfielder Ethan Price-Chu (4 Goals, 15 Assists), a unanimous second round selection, is joined by junior striker Kyle Cassidy (33 Goals, 10 Assists) and freshman keeper Sam Schneider (0.29 GAA and only freshman all-star) on the Second Team All-PVAC. Sophomore holding midfielder Aaron Lewis received the designated honor of a Coach’s selection, bringing the total number of All-Star Beests to a program record eight. Coach Polón was once again bestowed the honor of serving as one of this year's All-Star coaches.
In conclusion, this season could not have been possible were it not for the support of our loyal and supportive fans!
